Social media ad spend is set to increase

Due to increased use of social media, spend across the social platforms is forecast to increase by 22%. With more people on their phones, looking for engaging content to keep them busy as they try to tackle the emotional burden of self isolation, social media will become a daily routine that people need to keep them grounded, give them a sense of community and regular updates on the global crises.

Huge increase in engagement

We have already seen a huge jump in influencer marketing engagement, with a recent study finding a 76% increase in daily accumulated likes on Instagram #ad posts over the past two weeks.

TikTok continues to grow!

It’s no surprise that video app TikTok is emerging as a go-to app for comedic relief in trying times. People said they loved learning dances, seeing families create quarantine content together, and said that they generally found themselves turning to the video app for a much-needed mood lift. A recent study identified a 27% increase in engagement on TikTok between February and March 2020.
